WHAT’S INCLUDED:
Clarity in understanding the sympathetic nervous system. Finish the course understanding what the sympathetic nervous system is and its role in stress management, resiliency, and overall wellbeing.
Understanding in why focusing on relaxation and the parasympathetic state might not be enough to reduce stress levels. The vast majority of approaches focus on helping people reduce their stress by training the parasympathetic state. This is not typically enough to make lasting impact.
Application. Learn how to apply this information in a clear, scalable way to work with clients of various conditions and situations.
Confidence in recognizing when somebody should focus on the parasympathetic state or training the sympathetic state. But truly, most people will benefit from working both. .
Helpful, take home resources to support your ongoing mastery of the material. Included in the course are: a robust, easily accessible video library, printable reference cards and notes, unlimited, lifetime replay access to the course, and a post-course Q&A opportunity.

Context
In order to learn a new skillset, it is vital to understand the underlying mechanisms and function. We start the course covering neuroscience basics specific to fully understand the sympathetic state and the autonomic nervous system.
Resiliency
Next, we look at the neuroscience of stress and resiliency. We explore how it’s not enough to address the parasympathetic state in isolation but imperative to integrate the sympathetic nervous system into your approach as a movement professional or enthusiast.
You’ll also finish this course understand how to work within the scope of your practice and understanding when it is necessary to refer out.
Application
We’ll look at a variety of ways to thoughtfully train the sympathetic nervous system in a movement setting as well as ways to address it in daily living. These approaches are informed by long standing practices in the military, athletics, and supported by research and experience.
Many of our clients tell us, verbally or on their intake forms, that they would like to lower their stress levels and that they are experiencing higher stress levels than they think they should. Do you have a way to support them in this goal?
Historically, the movement industry addresses this through mindfulness, meditation, breath work, and relaxation. These are ways to activate the parasympathetic state. But this is only one part of our autonomic nervous system and likely, won’t create the impact you’re looking for. It’s time to consider the sympathetic state and have ways to thoughtfully integrate it into our movement settings.
This information has long been missing from movement professionals’ knowledge bank and it’s time to learn of its importance and potential in maximizing your results!

I really love Kate's deep research when she presents a course. I learn so much from her, and she is always open to any questions we have. I was looking to add more tools in my toolbox when I have a student who may not be progressing like I feel like they should. I felt like I received more than I was expecting. I loved the slides and the videos, which helped me work on the glides with myself before presenting them to a student. The way Kate presented this material made me feel comfortable to teach my students.
